Swiss International Air Lines is the principal airline of Switzerland.
It was formed in 2001 after the former flag carrier Swissair folded. The remaining assets of Swissair were transferred to its regional subsidiary Crossair which was in turn rechristened Swiss International Air Lines.
Swiss is scheduled to become a full subsidiary of Lufthansa once negotiations over access to foreign airports have been completed.
The airline is a member of Star Alliance and is hubbed at Zurich Kloten International Airport with a secondary hub at Geneva Cointrin International Airport.
