Overview

Frankfurt International Airport is a major airport south of Frankfurt, Germany. It ranks among the Top 10 airports in the world and is the airport with the most international destinations.
Frankfurt is a major hub for Lufthansa and Condor and one of the most important cargo airports in Europe.

Runways

The airport has two parallel runways (running east-west) which can not be used independently due to their proximity to each other. A third runway (north-south) is located to the west of the airport, but it can only be used for takeoffs and only southbound.

Terminals

Frankfurt Airport has two passenger terminals, which are connected by corridors as well as by people movers and buses.
The SkyLine people mover can be accessed at its stations on level 4: T1 concourse A, T1 concourse B, T2 between concourses D and E.

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 opened on 14 March 1972. It was designed in a modern style for the period, with polished silver interiors and corrugated walls. It is divided into three concourses. Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners currently dominate all of Terminal 1.

Concourse A

Concourse A has gates on two levels, with gates numbered A51 through A65 positioned directly above gates numbered A08 through A42 [1]. Passengers checking in at Frankfurt must go through two separate security checkpoints in order to reach gates A60 through A65. Restrooms in Concourse A have a maximum capacity of between one and three people. The concourse has no water fountains, although the water in the toilet sinks is labelled as drinkable.

Food is generally very cheap and tasty.
Right next to the Lufthansa base you will find the airline's crew shop "Ringeltaube". It is located opposite gate 21, to the west of the terminals (around 5 mins by foot from T1). Great duty-free shopping and nice discounts for airliners.
